Technology · Filament winding

Filament winding up to Ø 4 × 12 m.

We wind continuous resin-impregnated fiber onto a rotating mandrel, controlling the angle of every layer. It is the most efficient process for parts of revolution: tubes, shafts, rollers, cylinders and housings.

When to choose it

For anything that rotates or holds pressure.

In filament winding each layer is laid at the angle the part needs: closer to 90° to resist internal pressure, more axial for bending stiffness. That makes the most of the fiber and gives the lightest possible part.

Our capacity reaches 4 m in diameter and 12 m in length, a size that is uncommon in Spain.

  • Tubes and cylindrical profiles
  • Drive shafts and rollers
  • Cylinders, housings and shells
  • Large-diameter parts
After winding

Machining and measurement in the same plant.

After curing we trim, machine seats and holes, and measure the part. For tubes that need assembly tolerances, post-machining on a lathe or 5-axis machining center is part of the same order.

We also make the mandrels and tooling required.

FAQ

What customers ask us most.

What parts are made by filament winding?

Parts of revolution: tubes, shafts, rollers, cylinders, tanks, housings and shells.

What is the maximum size?

Up to 4 m in diameter and 12 m in length.

Can you machine the tube afterwards?

Yes. We have lathes with 2 m between centers and 5-axis machining centers to machine seats, threads, holes and ends.

Do you make the mandrel?

Yes, we design and machine it to suit the part geometry.
